Margaret Jane Of Elmira Margaret Jane Burke, 97, of West Grey St., Elmira, formerly of Corning, died Saturday, January, 3, 2004, at home. She was born on September 10, 1906 in Corning, the daughter of the late Richard and Rachel (Hotaling) McCarthy. She married Leland N. Burke Sr., who predeceased her on February 29, 1988. Margaret retired from the First National Bank in Corning, where she worked as a teller and officer. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Corning and The Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her sons, Leland (Betty) N. Burke Jr. of Painted Post, Gordon (Patricia) E. Burke of Elmira; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a nephew and a niece. The family will receive friends at the Acly-Stover Funeral Home, 327 E. Second St., Corning on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 from 2 to 3 p.m. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 3 p.m., with Rev. Robert Boell Officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Corning.
