"Peggy" Murphy, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away on March 31, 2012 with her loving family by her side.Peggy was born July 27, 1925, in Rensselaer, NY to the late Belle Fisher Traynor and James Traynor. She married Billy Murphy on June 25, 1949 at Corpus Christi Church in Baltimore, MD. They were blessed with two daughters who were the loves of her life.Peggy retired from Vassar College in 1990 where she was well known and loved for her Irish wit and beautiful smile that was larger than life itself. Following her retirement Peggy volunteered as a guide at the Franklin D. Roosevelt house where she charmed guests with her knowledge and love of history.Peggy greatly enjoyed flower arranging and gardening, always adding her creative flair and personal touches. She was "the ambassador of fun", always the life of the party she was loved by all. She was especially proud of the time she spent as a Girl Scout leader for her daughters' troops. Peggy's greatest passions were her family and her love of animals. Her life and love will be cherished and missed by all that knew her.Peggy is survived by her two daughters: Gale Ann (Darryl) Mauck of Poughkeepsie, NY and Carolee (Tony) Sartori of Hudson, NY, her four grandchildren: Devin, Jason and Shawn Hare, and their father Bob Hare, all of Hyde Park, and Tony Gimigliano of Poughkeepsie, NY, three great grandchildren: Anthony Murphy Gimigliano, Ava Jayleen, and Austin James of Hyde Park, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00AM on Wednesday, Apr. 4th, at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie. The Rev. James A. Garisto will officiate. Following the Mass, there will be a celebration of Peggy's life.There will be no calling hours, and burial will be private at a later date.Memorial donations may be made in Peggy's memory to either the Paralyzed Veteran's of America, www.pva.org, or to Companion Pet Rescue, PO Box 3191, Eatonton, GA 31024.The family would like to thank all who have offered their support and love.
