MURPHY Margaret Costello Murphy, age 78, of Bridgeport, died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Murphy was born in Bridgeport, and was a lifelong resident. She was a retired telephone operator for SNET and was a member and former secretary of the Pioneer Club at SNET. She was predeceased by her husband, James R. Murphy Sr.; her son, James R. Murphy Jr.; and a sister, Ann Mary Spodnick. Survivors include two sons, Patrick Murphy and Michael Murphy, both of Brideport; two brothers, John J. Costello of Bridgeport, and Thomas P. Costello of St. Cloud, Fla.; a sister, Eileen Gerst of Bridgeport; three grandchildren, Erica Murphy, Shauna Murphy, Lisa Bartlett; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Joseph Bartlett; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to the attend the funeral services DIRECTLY at St. Ambrose Church, 1596 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport, at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Interment in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
