Obituary of Margaret-C. Carter


Margaret (Marbie) C. Carter, 88, a longtime resident of St. Augustine, Fla., died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 in Winter Park, Fla. She was born to Charles and Fanny Harris in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on July 5, 1919. She had two brothers, Ed Harris and Bob Harris, and one sister, Vi Harris, all of whom preceded her. She was the wife and widow of Cecil C. Carter. She had three sons, Charles, Gary and Mark (a.k.a. "them boys") who she lovingly referred to as "her three degrees." She was preceded by a son, Gary Carter. She is survived by her sons, Charles and Mark; four grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Janice and Carol; and a host of nieces and nephews to numerous to mention, but all loved equally by her. Margaret was an avid hunter, angler, gardener, birdwatcher and conservationist, teaching respect, awe, and love of lor Lord's natural wonders to all she knew. Marbie was playfully mischievous, always in a good mood with an endless sense of humor that brought cheer to all. Most of all, our mother, our grandmother, our aunt, our friend was a Beautiful Dreamer. Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me, Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee; Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day, Lull'd by moonlight have all pass'd away! Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song, List while I woo thee with soft melody; Gone are the cares of life's busy throng Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea Mermaids are chanting the wild lorelie' Over the streamlet vapors are borne, Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn. Beautiful dreamer, beam of my heart, E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea; Then will all clouds of sorrow depart, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! We will all miss her and love her always.
