BLACKVILLE, S.C. - Margaret Briggs Davis, 72, died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at her residence in Blackville. Born in Barnwell, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Augustine Gregory Briggs. She was first married to the late Joseph F. Hicks, Sr. and then to the late John W. Davis. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2005 in Mole Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mole Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church, Blackville. Survivors include sons, Joseph F. Hicks, Jr. of Birmingham, Ala. and River N. Hicks of Blackville; daughter, Sheila Smith of Barnwell, S.C.; brothers, Floyd Briggs of Augusta, William Henry Briggs of Hephzibah, Ga., Collis Still of Barnwell; sisters, Collis Still of Barnwell, Betty Davis of Savannah, Ga., Mary Ray of Chattanooga, Tenn., Joyce Williams of Bushnell, Fla., and Helen Hughes of England; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
