ALBANY Margaret (Peg) Barber, 69, of Albany, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at Albany County Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Eugene A. and Rose Ella Mahoney Boule. Peg was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a longtime advocate for patients rights at the Albany County Nursing Home. Peg was recognized by Governor Pataki as the #1 nursing home patient in New York State. She worked tirelessly for the betterment of all patients and in several capacities at the nursing home. She was known as the trivia champion and enjoyed reading. Peg was the wife of the late Leon J. Barber. She is the cherished mother of Ricky J. Barber, Penny Erdheim and her husband, Michael, Johnny Barber and Donna Hunter; dear sister of Eileen Edwards, Robert Boule, William Boule and the late Alfred, Warren and Harold Boule; grandmother of Jason and Jeremy Barber, Kimberly and Jamie Erdheim, Johnny Punk Hunter, Christian Maglioni and Eligio Colon. She is the beloved aunt of Rosemary Kenyon, Janet Kaiser, Beverly Havens, Judy Richardson, Larry, Bob and Mark Edwards; sister-in-law of Marlene and Jack Davenport. Several nieces and nephews additionally survive. Pegs family would like to offer special thanks to the dedicated staff and many wonderful friends at Albany County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11:30 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. Following the interment, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Colonie Alliance Church on Lapham Road.
