Brown, Margaret "Peggy" RENSSELAER Margaret Mary "Peggy" Conroy Brown, a brave, courageous breast cancer survivor of eight years, born July 5, 1939, passed away Friday July 20, 2007 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Albany and has lived in Rensselaer since 1954. She was valedictorian of the class of 1957 from St. John's Academy in Rensselaer and was awarded a full academic scholarship to the College of Saint Rose. She received her master's degree from Russell Sage College. Peggy was a teacher at St. John's Academy Rensselaer, Van Rensselaer School, St. Joseph's School Rensselaer, Mercy High School in Albany and Maria College. She loved tutoring many friends and relatives. After her teaching career, she was employed as a medical billing associate at Best Systems and for approximately 15 years was medical billing manager for Capitol Region Urological Surgeons PLLC. Peg was a member of the Capital District Tai Chi and Kung Fu Association, associate member of the Adirondack Mountain Club and Hudson Mohawk WBCCI Unit 071 Airstream Trailer Club. She enjoyed yoga, aerobics, crossword puzzles, reading, Irish family gatherings, music, camping and traveling in Europe and Alaska. Wife of Stephen A. Brown of Rensselaer; mother of Teresa Lee Brown of Niskayuna, James Arthur Brown of Temple, Texas and David Allan Brown of Hot Springs, S.D.; grandmother of Brandon Arthur Brown of Tucson, Ariz. and Christienne Lee Brown of Niskayuna; daughter of the late John and Mary Rose Deegan Conroy; sister of John (Jean) Conroy of Hanover Park, Ill., Lawrence Conroy of Phoenix, Ariz., Eileen Miller of Rensselaer, Mary Francis (late Richard) George of East Greenbush, Elizabeth Tremblay of North Greenbush and the late Thomas Conroy; sister-in-law of Susan Conroy of Albany and Paul Tremblay of West Sand Lake. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock and 10 o'clock at St. John's/St. Ann's Church, Franklin Street, Albany where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush.
