JOHNSON, Margaret Anne(nee McCAUSLAND)1920 - 2015With much love we said goodbye to Peggy on January 23, 2015. Peggy was born in Prince George, BC and grew up in Wainwright and Edmonton, Alberta. In her younger years, Peggy was a raven-haired beauty who was an accomplished athlete (Edmonton Grads junior basketball team and Alberta League Baseball), and a fashion model. As a graduate of McDougall Commercial High School, she obtained her secretarial diploma and over the years worked at ATB, Dow Chemical and Woodwards.Peggy married Lyle Lindberg Johnson and they had four children: Dale (Lynn), Wayne (Myrna), Judith (William) and Natalie (Dino), moving between Hamilton, Ontario and Edmonton. Peggy enjoyed a long involvement with the Girl Guides of Canada; first as a Brownie leader, then Guide Leader, District Commisioner and Provincial Commissioner. As a longtime members of the Conservative Party of Canada, the family moved to Surrey, BC in 1970 where Peggy worked for the Federal Government as Riding Secretary for the Fraser Valley -West until 1988. With three further Federal Government appointments, she continued working until she was 76 years old.Peggy's life-long passions included gardening, roses, picking berries, politics, travel, education and she was very proud of all her family's accomplishments. Peggy's last years were spent in Edmonton where she was able to attend a Wainwright school re-union which she truly enjoyed. Peggy loved traveling, especially to Hawaii, the East Coast and her 6 month tour of Europe in 1958. Peggy was predeceased by brother Delmore (W.A.D.) McCausland, and husband, Lyle. She is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are: Joan Schraeder, Bob Fraser (Ann) Barbara Davis and Douglas Fraser (Jan). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the care-givers and staff at Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre 2 North for their amazing care given to our mother during her last 6 years.In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation in Peggy's name to the Good Samaritan Society c/o Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Centre, 9649 -71st Ave, Edmonton Alberta, T6E-5J2Cremation has already occurred and the family will have a celebration of Peggy's life at a future date.Peggy's advice: "Get an excellent education and don't get married until you are 25!"The family encourages others to share their memories of Peggy at rememberingpeggyjohnson@gmail.com
