Obituary of Margaret Anderson


BENNINGTON -- Margaret N. Anderson, 94, widow of Raymond C. Anderson and a resident of Fillmore Pond, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation.She was born in Lowville, N.Y., Oct. 10, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Ethelyn (Andre) Nortz. Margaret received her education in Lowville and was a graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, N.Y.Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were married in Lowville May 29, 1948. Mr. Anderson died May 10, 1993.For 25 years, Mrs. Anderson was employed as a nutritionist in various hospitals and restaurants. Along with her late husband, she had been a resident of Bennington since 1976.She was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church and a member of RSVP.Survivors include her local family, her great-niece Roberta Lynch Carroll and her husband, James E. Carroll; their daughters, Megan and Kate Carroll, and Kate’s husband, Patrick Zimmerman. Mrs. Anderson is survived also by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Back, and three brothers, Gerald, Theodore and Russell Nortz.The funeral will be held Friday, June 2, 2006 at 1 p.m. from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, where the Mass of Resurrection will be offered. Immediately following the Mass, the burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.At the request of Mrs. Anderson, there will be no calling hours.If friends desire, contributions in memory of Margaret Anderson may be made to either Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church or the Vermont chapter of the American Cancer Society through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201. At this time, the family would like to extend their gratitude to Margaret’s private aides (her ladies-in-waiting) for their devotion to Margaret over the last several years.
