Obituary of Marcel-Roland Villeneuve


BROTHER VILLENEUVE, Marcel Roland, a member of the Benedictine community of Saint Leo Abbey. St. Leo, Fla., died August 11, 2004. He was born September 26, 1923 in Hull, Quebec, to Eugene and Irene Villeneuve. Roland grew up in Detroit Mich., where the family had moved when he was a boy. In 1951 he began a three year enlistment In the US Air Force and married Barbara Collins, who survives him along with their children, Peggy Graf (Joel), Thomas Villeneuve (Kathleen), and Robert Villeneuve (Linda); grand- children: Cory, Jamie and Tracy Fitzsching, Lauren and Claire Villeneuve; and great- grandchildren, Tyler and Caitlin Fitzsching. In 1954 he began a career in the insurance business, which continued until 1996 when his family allowed him to begin a new career as a member of the St. Leo monastic community, while maintaining ties with them. As he begins yet another career with the Lord, his two families invite your participation in the reception of the body and a vigil service at Saint Leo Abb ey Church, at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 16. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday August 17 at the Abbey Church. Burial will be immediately afterward in the Abbey Cemetery.
