Obituary of Marcel-Leon Fortier


FORTIER, Marcel Leon September 24, 1921 - July 20, 2004 Suddenly and peacefully at home with Eunice Brunet, his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, by his side. He is survived by his 5 children, Marcel (Anne), Philip (Sharlene), Ronald, Norman (Josie) and Suzanne (Derrick), and by his 7 grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Christine, Katherine, Mark, Cheryl and Jennifer. Marcel is also survived by his brother Guy (Betty), sister Therese Reaman and sister-in-law Connie. Predeceased by his brothers Jacques and Paul (Alma) and sister Madeleine. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Marcel joined the Governor General's Foot Guards (GGFG) Militia at the age of 17 and went on to active duty at the beginning of WWII, landing on Juno Beach in July of 1944. His career included the Ottawa Police Force, the Canadian Provost Corps and External Affairs. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street (Centretown), Saturday, July 24th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, July 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Monday, July 26th to Annunciation of the Lord Church, 2414 Ogilvie Road, Gloucester, for Mass of Christian Funeral at 10:30 a.m. In memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
