CARTER _ The death of Mamie Carter occurred peacefully on Sataurday, September 6, 2003 at her residence at Central Haven Special Care Home, Saskatoon, SK at 89 years of age. Mamie is survived by five grandchildren: Harry Carter of Saskatoon; Jerry (Lindiwe) Carter of Edmonton, AB, and children Breanna and Clarice; Terry (Reina) Carter of Carman, MB and children Shauna (Dave) McIlmoyle, Amanda and Brett; Perry Carter of Saskatoon, SK and children Adrian and Sheldon; and Launie (Robert) Rakochey of Calgary, AB and children Rory, Carter and Jerome. Mamie was predeceased by her parents; husband; one son, two brothers and half sister. She was born in Prince Albert, SK on March 8, 1914. The family then moved to Delisle for a short time before moving in to Saskatoon where Mamie resided for over eighty years. Mamie was employed at Intercontinental Packers as a cook and also was employed at Saskatoon Convalescent Home for some 38 years. One accomplishment in Mamie's life was the raising of her five grandchildren and the enjoyment of having great-grandchildren. For many years, Mamie enjoyed playing five pin bowling. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. from McKague's Funeral Chapel (3rd Ave. and 20th St) conducted by Mamie's grandson Pastor Terry Carter. Interment of cremated remains will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Ave North Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H7. Arrangements are entrusted to John Janex of McKague's Funeral Chapel 664-3131.
