-> Mrs. Maggie Jackson, 91, departed this life on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Candler Hospital. She was born in Woodrow, South Carolina to the late George and Maria Porter. At an early age she was baptized into the Christian family and began a life of Christian service. She received her early education in the public schools of Woodrow, SC. Maggie was united in holy matrimony to Mr. George Reid (deceased). To this union one son (deceased) and two daughters were born. She later wed Mr. William Jackson, Sr. To this union, one son was born. When Mrs. Jackson moved to Savannah in the early 1930's, she joined Butler Presbyterian Church, USA. During her tenure at Butler she was a faithful deacon, served on the Usher Board, was a member of the H.M. Scott Circle, and the Presbyterian Women's Association. She was employed by a prominent local family for many years. Mrs. Jackson leaves to mourn: two daughters, Mrs. Maria Davis (Ben) and Mrs. Mary Jacobs (Haywood), both of Sum ter, SC; a son, Mr. William Jackson, Jr. of Norwalk, Connecticut; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be at Butler Presbyterian Church, Friday, June 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Desmond Walker will be officiating. The body will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until Interment: Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
