Mae Williams, 93, of Mauldin, died Friday, August 6, 2004.Born in Whitakers, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Levy and Estelle Hopkins Williams.An award-winning artist, Mae was recognized both in the Chicago area and Upstate South Carolina for her painting and sculpture.She was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville.She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Carol Hegg, of Arlington, Va.; a son, Yates Snowden Williams, Jr., of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren, Shannon Hegg, Richard Yates Hegg, Yates Snowden Williams, III, Charles Williams, David Williams; and nine great-grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her close friends Goldie Harper and Gladys Hinson.Services will be Monday, August 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Hospice, 414 Pettigru Street, Greenville, SC 29601.www.mem.com Woodlawn Funeral Home, Greenville.
