Mae Cecelia Mitchell, 85, of Camden, Ga., died on Feb. 10, 2010, at Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville. Born on Aug. 27, 1924, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Emma (Nunamaker) Springer. Mae worked as a riveter for M.P. Molar Co. making airplane parts for Fairchild Aviation during World War II, and later worked as a supervisor in the garment industry. She was a longtime resident of Bradenton, and had been a resident of St. Augustine since 1998 before recently moving to Kingsland, Ga. During her time in St. Augustine, she was a volunteer with R.S.V.P, and the Council on Aging and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Wilbur Ensminger and his wife, Crickett of St. Marys, Ga.; nieces, Therence Leigh of Winchester, Va., Nora Lee Dofflemeyer of Luray, Va., Lynette Crull of Harrisonburg, Va.; a brother-in-law, Clarence Barnhart of Hagerstown, Md.; one grandson; and many step- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Emma Springer, and a sister, Norma Barnhart.No local services will be held.St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
