Athens - Mabelle Virginia MacNiven Dawson, 91, died January 15, 2007 at Grandview Nursing Home in Athens, Ga., where she had been a patient for six months.She was born December 27, 1915 in Worchester, Massachusetts, daughter of Minnie Voter and John Ford. She was the adopted daughter of Malcolm MacNiven. She was the widow of Frederich H.C. Dawson who died in 1971.She was a 1984 graduate of the University of Georgia. She was a member of the Mayflower Society as a descendant of William White, a passenger on the Mayflower and signer of the Mayflower Compact. She was retired from Educational Testing Service, Princeton, N.J., and moved to Georgia in 1977. In New Jersey she was an active volunteer in the PTA, a leader for the 4H Clubs , a volunteer for the Middlesex Mental Health Association, and the Red Cross. During her years in Georgia, she volunteered her service to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Reading for the Blind, Vista, The Athens Tutorial Program and First Presbyterian Church of Athens.She is survived by three daughters: Margaret Gross, of Belle Mead, N.J., Carolyn Berdanier, of Watkinsville, Ga., and Lillian Hohmann, of Oak Park, Ill.; and five grandchildren: Lawrence Gross, Lynne Berdanier, Charles Berdanier, Robert Berdanier and Ellen Hohmann.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in Athens, Ga.In lieu of flowers, donations to the music fund of the First Presbyterian Church, 185 E.
