Smith , Mabel L.Aug. 4, 1918 - Feb. 19, 2014Longtime Hoopeston, Illinois resident recently passed away in Venice, Florida. Mrs Smith was 95 and lived at Aston Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Venice. She served as a Venice Regional Hospital volunteer for many years and was a member locally of the Christ United Methodist Church where she was actively involved in various church programs. She also carried a membership in the United Methodist Church in Hoopeston.She is survived by a daughter, Anita L. Hurliman and son, Raymond L. Smith, both residing in Venice. Mrs. Smith had 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. Any memorial donations may be directed to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.A private family service will be conducted locally and Mrs. Smith will be cremated (at her request) and buried at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston next to her husband of 62 years Marion O. Smith (deceased 1999).
