Mabel Frances Jones, 98, Port Charlotte, died June 17, 2002. She was born Feb. 23, 1904, in Creighton, Mo., and came to the Charlotte County area in 1972 from Kansas City, Mo. She taught in the commercial department of the Olathe Kansas High School before her marriage in 1929. She was vice president, office manager and bookkeeper for the Assured Realty Corp. in Kansas City for 30 years. She was past president and life member of the Kansas City Power Squadron Squadettes. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Port Charlotte, a member of the Advisory Council of the Adult Education Association, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, past president of the Women's Club of Port Charlotte, past president of the Welcome Wagon Alumni Club, a member of the Friends of the Library, Kansas-Missouri Club, The Doves, Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, Friendship Club, Metropolitan Dinner Club and the Port Charlotte Civic Association. Survivors include niece Patricia Arington of Olathe, Kan.; and nephew Dr. Fred Wilson of Manhattan, Kan. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte. Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel, is in charge.
