Mabel Brooks Smith Mabel "Aunt Mabel" Brooks Smith, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at South Jersey Regional Medical Center. Prior to her admission to the Medical Center, she was a resident of Genesis Health Care, Millville Center. Mabel, the fourth of eight siblings, was born to the late George Lee and Henrietta Thomas Brooks in Plymouth, North Carolina where she also attended the Public Schools. In 1935, her family moved to Bridgeton, New Jersey where she later was employed at the oyster and clam processing plants in the area. A devout and active member of the Pentecostal Church, she served in various capacities, including the Minister Board, Mother Board, Choir, and Chairperson for Passion Week and Good Friday services In addition to her son, Donald R. Holden (Alicia), of Haymarket, Virginia, she is survived by 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 51 great-great grandchildren, 5 great-great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a loving church family. She was predeceased in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and her beloved daughter, Bernice Gray. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, 128 South Ave., Bridgeton, on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
