Min Kim Lee, 96, a longtime resident of Yonkers, New York, died after a long illness on February 11, 2006. Min Kim Lee was born in China 1911. He became a teacher and married Hai Quoon Chan in 1931. He came to the United States in 1939 and became the head chef of the House of Chan in New York City. In 1954, he opened his own Chinese restaurant, The House of Lee in Yonkers, New York. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his four children, Mark (Alda) of White Plains, Alan (Allison) of California, May Soohoo of Yonkers and Eugene of Shanghai, China, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit at the BallardDurand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY 7-9 pm Friday. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 am Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lee family to furnish supplies for a school in Canton, China in his memory.
