Obituary of Michele-A. Smith


Michele A. Smith, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Michele was born in Gloversville on May 3, 1952 to the late Gordon E. and Madeleine R. Smith of Fonda. Michele grew up in Johnstown until her family moved to Fonda in her freshman year of high school. She graduated from Fonda-Fultonville High School in 1970. Michele previously worked as a welder at General Electric, Kasson & Keller in Fonda and Campbell Plastics in Schenectady. Michele is survived by her sister, Arlette Bradt of Rotterdam; brothers, Paul A. Smith of Schenectady and Pierre Smith of Amsterdam; nieces, Pamela Tracy, Melissa Bradt, Joanne Smith, Sharon Smith and Susan Smith; and nephew, Pierre Smith. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Floyd. Private graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank Schenectady Hospice caregivers, Joan Ostow, Marie Giokas, Kristin Roth and Rensselaer Hospice caregiver, Molly Wakeman for their time and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady County Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
