Melva Jean Geist Davis, 49, of Orlando, FL, went home to God on Monday, March 8, 2010. She was born Jan. 30, 1961, in Chicago, the daughter of Emma and the late Melvin Geist. She moved to Central Florida in the 1980s. She spent her days working side by side with her husband, Bill, in his construction business, and was an ardent fan of the University of Florida Gators and had a great love of gardening and of animals, especially her dog, Harley. Her friends most remember how she enjoyed hosting parties and "cooking for an army," especially her asparagus casserole. She is survived by her husband, Bill; mother, Emma; daughters, Crystal Duncan and Stephanie Drumheller; son, Ronnie Duncan; grandson, Scott Jackson; brothers Jeff, Darryl and Gary Geist; and sisters, Deanna Voll and Melissa Cornell. A private celebration of her life will be held at home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Orlando Humane Society, 2727 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL 32839.
