MAYES George Franklin Mayes, husband of Malvene W. Mayes, passed away on November 7, 2013. He was born in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Joel Harrison Mayes and Betty Martin Hatfield Mayes. He was employed with various companies. George Franklin Mayes was a member of First Baptist Church, downtown Jacksonville, Florida. He served as Substitute Pastor in various local churches and as a Substitute Sunday School Teacher. Surviving is his son James w. Mayes (Andrea), brother Dr. William Wyatt Mayes, (Bettie) of Buena vista, VA and sister Hattie Cox of Richmond, VA, nieces and nephews. Granddaughter Laura Beth Nelson, (Brandon) and great-grandsons Peter and James.
