Mary Margaret (Marie) Hanlon of Palm Springs, Florida died suddenly on September 8, 2009. She was 78. Mary was born June 11, 1931 to John J. and Bridget (O'Shea) Downing in Bronx, NY. She was a resident of Palm Springs, Fl for 12 years prior Jackson Heights and the Bronx. Mary worked for many years for Equitable Life Assurance in New York, NY. Mary enjoyed movies, reading and meeting with friends. She was looking forward to her trip to New York for her brother's 80th birthday party to spend time with her loving family and friends. Mary will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Mary is survived by her sister Patricia Ward and her husband Jim of Wantagh NY, her brother John Downing of New City NY, four nieces, three nephews, five great nephews and one great nephew. Mary is predeceased by her husband Jack Hanlon. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Micheal J. Higgins Funeral Home 321 South Main Street New City, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday 11:15am at St. Augustine's Church New City, NY with burial to follow at St. Joachim Cemetery Beacon, NY.
