OWENS, MARY FRANCES Owens, Mary Frances "Buck", age 86 of Argo, passed away on April 13, 2011. Mrs. Owens was born to Ed and Essie Disspain on June 11, 1924, and was a lifelong member of the "Rock Church" in Argo. A World War II bride, Mrs. Owens painted bombs for the war effort while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. They hand built their first home in Argo from money she saved during the war. Known by family and friends as "Mama Buck", she loved cutting grass, growing flowers, raising gardens, quilting, cooking and sweet tea. She made the best fruit cobblers ever! Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clyde H. Owens; sisters, Margie Crawford, Evelyn Morgan, Lucille Murdock and Ann Liles; brothers, Harold "Son" Disspain and Earl Disspain; son-in-law, Toney Carroll. She is survived by her children, Sue (Sonny) McAlpin, Edna Carroll and John (Alandra) Owens; brother, Bill (Clara) Disspain; sisters-in-law, Jewel Owens, Ruby Nell Owens and Hortense Jennings; grandchildren, Debby (Robert) Everett, Becky (Chris) Cole, Sharon (C.W.) Bradshaw, Wade (Christie) Carroll, David (Ashley) McAlpin and Gabe (Lana) McAlpin; step-grandchildren, Tucker and Taylor-Noel Jackson; great grandchildren, Chris (April) Everett, Tai Everett, Amy (Derrick) Griffin, Brandon and Rheagan Cole, Trace, T.J. and Layla Bradshaw, Courtnie and Cameron Carroll, Austin, Aiden, Gracie and Marlie McAlpin; great great grandchildren, Daniel, Josh, Rebecca and Jordan Everett and Logan and Leah Griffin and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2011 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Funeral service will be, Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11 AM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jerry Mahner officiating. >
