Obituary of Mary-Christina Pittman


PITTMAN, Mary Christina was ushered into heaven by a host of angels on March 12, 2002 from Capitol Hill HealthCare in Montgomery. Graveside services will be Friday, March 15th from Greenwood Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Mike Sigler officiating. Miss Pittman was preceded in death by her parents, Frances H. and Stephen E. Pittman, Sr. and brother, Marion A. Pittman and sisters, Jennie Elizabeth Pittman and Lola P. Caldwell, all of Montgomery, AL. She was born in Alexandria, Virginia March 11, 1919, while her father was working in the war department. Shortly after her birth, the family moved back to Montgomery where she remained for the rest of her life. Miss Pittman graduated from Sidney Lanier High, then went on to become a Dental Hygenist with Dr. Denis H. Carr, DDS. Their association lasted 42 years. She was affectionately known by her patients as 'Miss Pitt'. She was a founding member of the Builders Class at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Former Past Worthy Matron of Elizabeth Armstrong Chapter #10, Order of the Eastern Star. She leaves behind to cherish her memory loving brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen E. Pittman, Jr. (Madlyn) Montgomery, AL, James K. Pittman, Alexandria, VA, Anthony E. Pittman, Mabelton, GA, Faye M. Pittman, Thomaston, GA and beloved sister, Elizabeth P. Beaird (Donald), Millbrook, AL; nephews, Stephen E. Pittman, III, Anthony D. Pittman, Andrew Pittman, Kem Pittman, Warren Caldwell, Jr.; nieces, Doris P. Hanson, Joyce Pittman, Barbara Hardy, Jennie Tanner, Jeannie Gandy, Christine Horton, Amalee Segars and Karen P. Wright; 19 great-nephews and nieces and nine great-great-nephews and nieces. Also long time friend and co-worker, Dorothy Guilford. Pallbearers will be Stephen Pittman, III, Alan Hardy, Donald Beaird, Trace Segars, Lonnie Horton and Warren Caldwell, Jr. Leak-Memory Chapel Directing
