Mary-A. Mills, born in 1921, spouse of Richard Mills, daughter of Joseph and Nancy-Francisco, mother of William, Nancy, Cindy and Richard, died at 85 years old.
Mary A. Mills, a lifelong Croton resident, died Saturday at Hudson Valley Hospital. She was 85. She was a retired Watch Maker at the Croton Watch Co., retiring in 1990 after 23 years. Mary was born in Croton on March 13, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Nancy Francisco Ozzello. She attended Croton schools. On September 15, 1946 she married Richard Mills at Holy Name of Mary Church, where she was a lifelong parishioner. She sang in the choir there for over 40 years, and was invited to sing in Central Park, at the Mass celebrated by Pope John Paul II, during his final visit to New York City. Mrs. Mills was also a member of the Croton Senior Citizens, a former member of the Cortlandt Seniors, and was a member of the Service Employees International Union. She is survived by a son William Mills of Hopewell Jct., and two daughters, Nancy Clark, of Croton, and Cindy (Michael) Bova, of Peekskill. She also has a brother Alphonso (Vivian) Ozzello, and a sister, Lucy Nichols, all of Croton, six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Richard Mills, a son Richard Mills, and a brother Dominick Ozzello. There is a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10AM at Holy Name of Mary Church. Friends may call on Monday from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St., Croton. Burial is in Bethel Cemetery.
