Marie Alice McNary Jordan, 96, of Ormond Beach, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2011. She was the daughter of Norman and Marie Louise (Maye) McNary and was related to several of the twelve families who founded The Village on New Britain, which became Ormond Beach. Because of her detailed memories, old documents, and photos, she was called upon by both individuals and organizations when they needed information about the history of the area. She was married to Paul Jordan, a career soldier who died in 1976 and was the mother of two sons, Lawrence R. Jordan, Ormond Beach, Paul C. Jordan (Carrol), Hudsonville, MI; and a daughter, Mary Jean Kirwin, Huntsville, AL. She had five grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and one surviving brother, Lawrence McNary, who lives in Ormond Beach. During World War II she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and flew missions in search of enemy subs and survivors of sinkings, later she worked in defense plants. She was a teacher, a pilot, the first waitress hired when Billy's Tap Room opened in Ormond Beach and she enjoyed traveling, even at the age of 90. There will be no funeral service.
