Obituary of Mae-Estelle Smith


SMITH, MAE ESTELLE, 77, of Orlando went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2004. Born in Ft. Meyers, FL, she married C.R. Smith in 1964 and moved to Central Florida. She co-founded the Tom Skinner Club, an inner city youth ministry that later became Frontline Outreach, which for over 35 years has served Orlando's west side in Christian ministry, providing backyard Bible clubs, childcare and after-school programs, a teen pregnancy outreach, a youth mentoring program among others. Mrs. Smith taught numerous Bible studies at Frontline and throughout the city. She also did personal and marriage counseling, and taught at many women's retreats throughout FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.R. Smith in 2003. She was a member of Metrowest Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by six children; Rhonda Walther of St. Cloud, Becky Combs of Apopka, Randy Smith of Woodruff, SC; Brian Smith of Orlando, Joe Flores of Virginia Beach, VA and Chip Watts of Orlando; and more than ten grandchildren. A memorial service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, June 9th in Henry Chapel at First Baptist Church/Orlando. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the C.R. & Estelle Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund at Frontline Outreach, 3000 C.R. Smith St, Orlando, FL 32805.
