M. Elizabeth "Betty" Smith Paul, who resided at the Nottingham in Jamesville, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 14, 2014. She was born October 8, 1918, in Syracuse, NY, to Earl Barrett and Mildred (Hookway) Holdredge. She was a 1940 graduate of Cornell University and an AAUW member. In 1950, after living in various upstate NY locations, Betty moved to Marcellus, NY where she and her husband Don, raised their family. She loved spending most of her 96 summers at Tully Lake Park with family and friends. In later years she spent winters in Palm Coast, FL. She faithfully attended the LaFayette Alliance Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald L Smith; her second husband, Richard Paul, and also by a brother, Lt. Willard B. Holdredge and a sister, Patricia Roeher. She is survived by four sons, Stephen Smith and wife, Diane of Tully, NY, Barry Smith and wife, Happy of Boca Raton, FL, Dr. David Smith and wife, Jeanette of Maryville, TN and Dr. Andrew Smith and wife, Margaret also of Maryville, TN; one daughter, Lorie Burnett of Cullowhee, NC; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 20, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m., all at the Lafayette Alliance Church, 6069 Cherry Valley Turnpike (Rt. 20), LaFayette, NY.
