Lynn Anderson, spouse of Paulette Anderson, son of Don and Lil, father of Jesse and Lisa, died. Please consult the obituary here:
Lynn Anderson June 5, 1948 – April 9, 2014 Lynn is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paulette; daughters, Lisa (Jascha), Jesse (Chad); grandchildren, Joe, Bruce and Kitt; brothers, Hal (Margaret), Jay (Maureen); and his nieces and their families. Lynn was born to Lil and Don in Maple Creek and was raised in Regina, spending summers at Cypress Hills "The Park." Lynn attended Lakeview School and Sheldon Williams Collegiate, making many lifelong friends during his school years. He represented Saskatchewan in water polo at the 1969 Canada Games in Halifax. He earned degrees in Geophysical Engineering and Education, and he and Paulette moved to Fort Qu'Appelle in 1973. Lynn loved his home in the Qu'Appelle Valley. Lynn loved music, technology, science, hiking, canoeing, carpentry, debating, playing cards and travelling. He was at his very happiest at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, a wonderful place full of music, hippies and deep-fried elephant ears. He started attending Saskatchewan Roughriders games with his Uncle Fidd in the 1950s and remained a loyal fan all his life. Taylor Field will be just a little quieter without Lynn there to wave his eyeglasses in the air and say, "Hey ref, do you need these!?" Lynn was a dedicated teacher at Bert Fox Composite High School for many years, spreading the gospel that "physics is everywhere." He spent countless hours in the high school gym coaching, refereeing and timekeeping. He loved putting on Dinner Theatre each year, the Egg Drop science challenge and the magic of the Grade 9 Cypress trip during STEW (Student Teacher Education Week). He left teaching to work for the Board of Education in Regina, where he ran the correspondence school and pioneered the first online curriculum before retiring in 2003. He then went into the web business and could often be found scaling a farmhouse roof to install high-speed internet around the valley. He became a Marriage Commissioner and took great delight in officiating weddings for many of his former students. To say that Lynn was community oriented doesn't begin to cover it. If there was a committee, he was on it. He served on Town Council for many years and was the Mayor of Fort Qu'Appelle. He also volunteered with the Lions, the Science Teachers Federation, the Fort Qu'Appelle Museum, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Regina Folk Festival and so many other community organizations and celebrations. Lynn was a wonderful patient during his six months at the Pasqua Hospital. He liked to tell us that he was not being brave – he was just being obedient. The constant stream of visits, phone calls and emails were a testament to Lynn's many friendships. He was truly grateful to all of the nurses, with a special place for Michelle, Meisha, the two Carolyns (or Carolyn squared as he would say), Dr. Dolata and his buddy Sandy, who cleaned his room. He and Paulette made it through this difficult time with a little help from their friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the "Friends of Unit 3B," 1401 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1A5 would be gratefully accepted. A celebration of Lynn's life will take place at the Fort Qu'Appelle Legion Hall in June.
