Lynda Maie Burke February 24, 1957 - September 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Lynda Maie Burke age 48 of Amherst passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan NS. Born in Amherst she was the daughter of Ansel and Evelyn (MacKay) Smith. Lynda was employed for 13 years at Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst where she worked as a nurse and for the past 18 years she worked at Gables Lodge Nursing Home, Amherst where she held the position of Director of Care. She was a member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church and Weight Watchers. Lynda enjoyed walking, swimming, listening to music and spending time with her family. Lynda is survived by her loving husband Philip; one daughter Molly of Mount Allison University, Sackville NB, one son Cale at home; one brother Greg ( Denise ) Smith of Amherst; one niece Hayley and one nephew Emmitt. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Sherman and Etta MacKay and paternal grandparents Wilson and Edna Smith. Her remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Sunday, October 2, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 10 a.m from St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery. Donations in Lynda's memory may be made to the Resident’s Council at Gables Lodge or the Alzheimer’s Society. www.campbells-amherst.ca
