Obituary of Lynda-Gayle Berg

LYNDA GAYLE ALLEN (BERG) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and best friend, Lynda Gayle Allen (Berg). Lynda was born July 3, 1948 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Albert and Edith (Christiansen) Berg. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Riverside Health Care Facilities, with her family by her side. Lynda was united in marriage to Roy Allen on March 15, 1968, and just recently had celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Together they had four children, Tammy, Tracy, Jason, and Dana. As a teenager, Lynda spent her summers working in Sioux Narrows, Ont. at the various resorts. After her marriage to Roy, Lynda was a dedicated mother and devoted her days to raising her children. At the young age of 32, and with four young children to tend to, Lynda was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis. This debilitating disease took its toll on Lynda. But despite the many adverse affects of the disease, she always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. Together Lynda and Roy enjoyed many pastimes, but their favourite was taking their children on camping trips to Lake of the Woods, where they enjoyed fishing, hiking, and swimming. Lynda’s greatest pleasure in life was the company of her children and grandchildren. She loved nothing more than to watch her grandchildren play and laugh, sing and dance, and grow. She cherished every moment she spent with them and loved nothing more than to see them happy. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Lynda enjoyed the outdoors and looked forward to warm weather, planting and growing flowers. On any warm, sunny day, you could find Lynda outside visiting with family and friends, watering her flowers, and watching the many birds that gathered in her gardens. Lynda is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Roy; her children, Tammy (Todd) McLean, Tracy (Ken) Wright, Jason (Stephanie Weir) Allen, and Dana Allen and special friend, Brian Arch. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyson McLean, Karleigh and Mackenzie Wright, and Colten Allen, and was awaiting the birth of two new grandchildren this year. Also left to mourn are Lynda’s brother, Robert Berg of Mendoza, Argentina; sister, Florence (Bernard) Richard and son, Chad, of Winnipeg, Man.; sister, Carol (Mike) Botts of Fontana, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Mary Lou) Allen and Jim (Charon) Allen; sister-in-law, Marjorie Boileau; special uncle Robert Christiansen, and Allan and Lee Christiansen and family; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 1 p.m. The pallbearers were her dearest friends, Sharon McPherson, Diane Schindel, Rochelle Kennett, and Carole McLean. The honourary pallbearers were her beloved grandchildren. In memoriam donations may be made to the Fort Frances Community Chest c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0. Online condolences may be offered at northridgefuneralhome.com Wednesday, April 16, 2008
