Lydia Mae Williams (née Jackson) March 13, 1920 - November 17, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) WILLIAMS (Jackson), Lydia Mae - 84, Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax, formerly of Lower Sackville, passed away November 17, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Saint John, N.B., on March 13, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Emma Jackson. Lydia came to Nova Scotia at the age of nine and lived in the Valley area until coming to Lower Sackville in her early teens, where she met and married the late Arthur Edward Williams. As a long-time member of Cobequid Road United Baptist Church, she attended services regularly. In addition, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church, where she held the position of treasurer. She retired from the Halifax YMCA after several years of service. She was a "natural green thumb" who had much success growing flowers and plants. Also she was an avid bowler, winning several trophies when she was participating. Surviving are sons, Edward (Sandra), Alfred (Faye), Bruce (Margaret), Robert (Dorothy), Ernest, Gary (Jane); her daughters, Judith "Judy" Lopes, Maxine "Victoria" Templer, Deborah "Debby"; daughters-in-law, Vivian Salvail and Mary Dickinson; son-in-law, David Templer; her sisters, Edith Gabriel, Montreal, Que.; Margaret Johnson, Kingston, Ont.; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Edward Williams; sisters, Phyllis Jackson and Florence Radcliff; son-in-law, Gary M.W. Lopes; one child and one grandchild. Arrangements are entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 20, in Atlantic Funeral Home, Rev. Tracey Grosse officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The repast following the burial will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cobequid Road United Baptist Church Building Fund in Lydia's name.
