Obituary of Lula-Mae Davis


DAVIS Lula Mae Davis, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 11, 2009, at the age of 89. Mrs. Davis was born on December 8, 1919 in Baltimore, MD to William Edward Martin and Lula Drucilla Martin (Moore). She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Howard Milton Davis. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville since 1961, where she served faithfully beside her husband in the Senior High School ministry and was a Sunday School Adult outreach leader for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her daughter, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren as well as traveling with her husband both in the United States and abroad. Mrs. Davis is survived by one daughter: Marion Rivers (James) of Macclenny, two granddaughters: Karen Barfield (Bryan) and Kristin Gray (Dannie) all of Jacksonville; four great-grandchildren: Kalee and Kendra Thompson, Zachary Barfield, and Brittany Gray; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Edgewood Chapel on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, from 6-8:00p.m. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 1:00p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Hobson Auditorium with Reverend John Blount officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30pm in the Oakland Cemetery in Waycross, GA. Funeral arrangements are by the Hardage-Giddens Home, Edgewood Chapel 388-2711. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
