MILLINOCKET - Ludger J. "Joe" Michaud, 86, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 11, 1923, in Millinocket, the son of Joseph F. and Marie E. (Turmel) Michaud. During World War II, Joe served the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. After the war ended, he returned to Millinocket where he went to work for Great Northern Paper Co., retiring in 1985 after working for 43 years. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy E. (Hardy) Michaud of Millinocket; a son, James Michaud; two daughters, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a sister, Madeline Bishop of East Millinocket; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by 10 siblings. At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. Spring interment, with military honors, will be at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Joe may be sent to Alzheimer's Foundation, 170 Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
