Lucy Lentz Scanlon, 98, of Branchburg, N.J., died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 20, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, N.J. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 21, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Bradley Gardens, N.J. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater, N.J. Visit www.kearnsfuneralhome.com for more information or to send condolences to the family. Born in Rahway, N.J., Lucy was the daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Lentz. She lived in Rahway, N.J., and Westfield, N.J., before moving to Branchburg, N.J., in 1968. She also enjoyed her vacation home in Geiger Key, Fla. Lucy was the former president of D&L Contracting Company in Somerville, N.J. She and her late husband owned Scanlon's Farm in Readington, N.J. Lucy was still active in the day-to-day operations of the farm until her death. She also had her horse, King, as a companion on the farm. In her younger years, Lucy would love nothing better than to be out on the water. She loved boating and water skiing. Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Scanlon, in 1980, and her beloved brother, Charles Lentz, who was killed in action during World War II while in Normandy. She is survived by her sons, Robert of Frenchtown, N.J., and Francis and his wife, Carol Ann, of Readington. She is also survived by her niece, Judy Lentz Scherf of Mullica Hill, N.J.; her five grandchildren, Jeanine, Robert John, Francis, Thomas and Jeffrey, and eight great-grandchildren.
