Lucy Jackson, born in 1927, daughter of S. E and Guy, died on December 20, 2012.
Lucy Finley Jackson, longtime resident of Barbour County, died on December 20, 2012. She was the daughter of the late S.E. and Guy Finley. She was born on June 5, 1927 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina and the University of Alabama where she received a degree in Medical Technology. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and the Daughters of the American Revolution. At this time she met and married the late Dr. James Shelly Jackson.They moved to Clio, Alabama in 1955 and to Clayton in 1957. During the 1970's she returned to college and earned a Degree in Education from Troy State University. She taught in the Eufaula School System, Bakerhill and Clayton before retiring in 1986.Medical concerns caused her to move Montgomery in 1995.She is survived by two children, Sally McLendon and Tommy Jackson, both of Montgomery; three grandchildren, Rob S. McLendon of Barcelona, Spain, Jackson McLendon of Richmond, Virginia and Lucy M. Jackson, a student of the University of Mississippi in Oxford.A memorial service is planned on January 19th 4:00 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension in Montgomery, Alabama.
