FAIRFIELD -- Lucy E. (York) Strickland, 82, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Pittsfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born on Jan. 21, 1931, in Hartland, the daughter of Lindley and Eudoxie (Call) York.She was educated in area schools and graduated from Lawrence High School. Lucy was married to Mylan Strickland for 45 years. She was employed for a number of years by Diamond International in Oakland, Hathaway Shirt in Waterville, and most recently by Sunset Greenhouse until retiring. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and camping.Lucy is survived by four sons, Douglas Strickland and wife Cheryl, of Fairfield, Darryl Strickland and wife Sandra, of Fairfield, David Strickland, of Fairfield, and Dennis Strickland and wife Wanda, of Canaan; two sisters, Patricia Salisbury and Sherry Fitzpatrick and husband Tim, of Oakland; nine grandchildren, Jaime, Erica, Adam, David Jr., Amber, DJ, Brittany, Ashley and Justin; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Lindley York Jr.; a sister, Ruth White; and a grandson, Robert Tardiff.A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Tozier Cemetery, Fairfield Center.In lieu of flowers, friends wishing, may make donations in Lucy's memory to the Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 U.S. Route 1, suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
