Lucille G. Begin, 99 1910 - 2009 LEWISTON -- Lucille G. Begin, 99, of Montello Manor, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 21, 2009, with her daughters at her side. She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 27, 1910, one of four children born to Alfred and Cora (Gregoire) LeBlanc. She was educated in local schools, attended Lewiston High School and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On July 31, 1933, she married Jules O. Begin who predeceased her Sept. 16, 1991. Lucille and her husband Jules founded White Star Laundry and Dry Cleaners and together they owned and operated the business for 32 years. She was an accomplished seamstress who later worked 10 years at Benoit's Clothing tailoring clothes until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish, Patronesses of St. Mary's Hospital, St. Ann's Sodality at Holy Family Church, Lewiston Senior Citizens, YWCA, Musical Literary Club and the Rainbow Club. For several years after retirement, she volunteered in the gift shop at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. Among her favorite enjoyments in her free time was entertaining friends and family. She was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and ceramics. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed. She leaves two daughters, Jacqueline Pelletier and her husband Leo of Scarborough, and Yvette Rousseau and her husband Gerard of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Kathryn Whitmore and husband Bill, Daniel Bergeron and companion Jeff Gregory, Jean Bergeron and wife Sharon, Marc Pelletier and wife Cheryl, and Paul Bergeron and wife Karen; six great-grandchildren, Gaeten Bergeron, Natalie Bergeron, Abigail Whitmore, Alexander Whitmore, Saige Purser and Nate Bergeron; two great-great-grandchildren, Soleil Vega and Gavin Bergeron; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jules; a sister Lolita Lagueux, and two brothers, Alfred LeBlanc Jr. and Julien (Chic) LeBlanc. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 p.m., at the Fortin Group Funeral Home, Cremation and Monument Service, 70 Horton St., Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul on Saturday at 11 a.m. Committal will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
