LABONTE  Lucien Joseph Labonte, age 91, beloved husband of Julia Billings Labonte, of Shelton, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 25, 2004. A longtime resident of Bridgeport and Shelton, Lucien was born into a large French Canadian family of eight brothers and one sister in Biddeford, Maine, on January 8, 1913. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in 1977 after 25 years of employment. Upon his retirement, Lucien drove a school bus in the Shelton area, and happily worked around his home and garden to pass the time away. He was surrounded by his loving family, friends and neighbors, most especially Phil and Kathy Lametta, who supported him and Julia with food, laughter and care during his last months of illness. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Charlene Labonte of New Haven, and Michele Hubler and her husband, Bruce, of Bridgeport; one brother, Robert Labonte, and one sister-in-law, Luce Labonte, both of Biddeford; his stepdaughter, Susan Nucifora of Waterbury; and her three children, Laura Gruce, Chris Gruce and Andrew Nucifora; and several nieces and nephews. The Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, is in charge of arrangements. His Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be on Friday in Biddeford.
