Louise Packer, born in 1920, spouse of William-Austin Packer, daughter of Velma-Drake and E. L, mother of Ann and Sandy, died on December 14, 2007 at 87 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
On Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, Louise "Mimi" Packer went home to be with the Lord at age 87. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin Packer; and parents, Velma Drake Longshore and E.L. Longshore Sr.Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. The Rev. Gary Taylor and Scott Dobbins will officiate.She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Stoney) Battles and Sandy (Van) Johnson; granddaughters, Lisa (Scott) Dobbins, Denise (Dale) Chesnut, Kelly (Chad) Smith, Wendy Hammontree, Kristi Teet and Ashley Battles; great-grandchildren, Joey and Austin Chesnut, Anna Dobbins, Reed Johnson, Josh Smith, Devin and Taylor Hammontree; brother, E.L. (June) Longshore Jr.; and nephew, Dr. John (Jenny) Longshore.Mimi was born and raised in DeKalb County and a 1939 graduate of Sand Rock High School. She was a faithful employee for over 20 years at A&S Tire Service. Mimi was a loving mother, grandmother without equal and the nucleus of our family. She was a longtime member of Cathedral of Praise and loved to be in church.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dale Chesnut, Scott Dobbins, Joey Chesnut, Chad Smith; special friends, Roger Maness and Tom Hallin.Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Reed Johnson, Austin Chesnut, Devin Hammontree and Josh Smith.Special thanks to longtime hairdresser, Donna Smith and the many friends who loved our mother.
