Obituary of Louise-L. Smith


May 8, 2005 Louise L. Smith, lifelong resident of Camillus, was the daughter of Ernest O. and O. Beach Smith; sister of Walter B. Smith of Central Square and C. Jane Smith Touloukian of Oceanside, CA. She was born on December 23, 1915, in the house her father built on W. Genesee St. in 1909. She taught at Fairmount Grammar School and served as principal of the newly opened Onondaga Road School until her retirement in 1976. Miss Smith was a member of the Camillus Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past District Deputy Grand Matron for the state of New York. She was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers' Assn., Camillus Women's Republican Club, Camillus Business and Professional Women's Org., Camillus Teachers' Retirement Assn., Delta Kappa Gamma and honorary member of the Fairmount Merry Widows' Luncheon. Miss Smith worshipped at Fairmount Community Church, where she was a member of the nominating committee, Esther Circle and served as deacon. Miss Smith is survived by her brother and sister; her nephew, Walter E. Smith of FL; nieces, April Dewan of Marcellus and Joan, Jill and Anne Touloukian of CA; her many great-nieces and -nephews.
