WASSAIC, N.Y. - Louise Hansen- Morrison, 98, a longtime resident of Wassaic, N.Y., formerly of Augusta, Ga., died Friday, January 25, 2008 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, Conn. She worked as a secretary at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, N.Y. for 17 years and later worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. She was born July 27, 1909 in Kathwood, S.C., the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Florence Lavelle Furse. After graduating from high school in Augusta, Ga., she attended business college and worked at a detective agency and as an assistant manager of a dry cleaning establishment. For 34 years, she was married to Carl Gustav Hansen who died in March 1972. On January 27, 1977 in Amenia, N.Y., she married Francis C. Morrison who died August 30, 2007. Mrs. Morrison and her husband were volunteers with the Dutchess County Office for the Aging and assisted with issuance of the first Senior Citizens Discount Cards. She was a charter member of the Amenia-Wassaic Senior Citizens and a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 5444 in Dover Plains. She was also a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Georgia. She is survived by her grandchildren, Denise and David Searles of Frackville, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Diane Kelly and step granddaughter, Kathleen Kelly, both of Amenia; and several nieces and nephews in Atlanta and Augusta, Ga. and Chattanooga, Tenn. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also predeceased by two sisters, Juanita Mallett and May Daley; a brother, James Furse; and two nieces, Christine Lundy Moroy and Josephine Mallett Boeck. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, N.Y.
