BANGOR and VEAZIE - Louise H. Beaulieu, 97, died Nov. 27, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at a local nursing home. She was born Aug. 9, 1913, in Old Town, the daughter of Alfred and Delia (Lauzier) Brilliant. Louise courageously began a late life career and education after the loss of her husband, Jim, in 1963. She earned her licensed practical nurse degree and worked for several years at Bangor State Hospital and later at Orono Nursing Home. Louise was known for her generosity in the care of others. Her many years of lovingly giving nursing care to the elderly and years of home care to family members were natural traits and common to Louise's generous nature. Louise was well known for her home cooking skills and hospitality. Neighbors and friends would delight in her recipes and friendship throughout the years while living on Oak Street, Veazie, and Riverview Street, Veazie. She was an active member of Veazie Grange and Veazie Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed many good times with her friends. Her devoted family will dearly miss her. Louise is survived by her four children, Gary Beaulieu and his wife, Edie, of Brewer, Joyce Gaherty and her husband, John, of Grantham, N.H., James Beaulieu and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Falmouth and Dean Beaulieu and his wife, Susan, of Old Town; 12 grandchildren, Dawn Beaulieu, Brian Beaulieu and his wife, Dawn, Karen Sankey and her husband, Chris, Cheryl Veilleux and her husband, Aaron, James Gaherty and his wife, Jennifer Edwards, William Gaherty, Christopher Gaherty and his wife, Melissa, Benjamin Gaherty and his wife, Allyson, Michelle Beaulieu, Elizabeth Beaulieu, Tami Sapiel and her husband, Richard, and Timothy Beaulieu and his wife, Tracy Young; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anita Parent and her husband, George, of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Louise was predeceased by her husband, James E. Beaulieu; four brothers and one sister. Relative and friends are welcome to call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the interment.
