Fink The family of Louise Catherine Fink (nee Kraft) announce her passing on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 86 years of age. Louise was born in Odessa, Saskatchewan on March 1, 1925, the daughter of Peter and Eva (nee Sax) Kraft. She attended school in Odessa and as a young woman remained at home to help her parents. At a dance in Vibank, Louise met Henry Fink and the two were united in marriage in Vibank on November 5, 1945. They made their home on the Fink family farm and ran a successful dairy operation. Louise and Henry were blessed with five children, Winnie, Wayne, Velma, Vanda and Vern. The family was devastated in 1969 when Henry passed away suddenly following a heart attack. Louise was forced to sell the dairy and, together with the three youngest children, moved into Regina. In the city Louise soon found work as a waitress in restaurant in Woolworths, eventually gaining employment with Simpson Sears in the catalogue order department. In 1984 Louise decided to embark a new venture when she and her daughter, Vel purchased a small general store in Morse, Saskatchewan. The "Family Store " carried a variety of items, but Louise's talent for fashion shone while operating the business. She was able to order clothes for everyone in the town and knew just the right cut and style for each one. Eventually the store became too much for mother and daughter to operate on their own, they sold the business in 1990 and Louise retired. Her retirement years saw many moves for Louise as she made her way to Swift Current, back to Regina and finally to Yorkton in 2003 to make her home at the Bentley Retirement Community. Louise made many friends and shared many good times at the Bentley. Louise was a wonderful mother, she loved to keep a warm and cozy home for her family and loved to cook and take care of them. Christmas and Easter were her two favorite times of the year, with the preparation for each taking weeks of cooking, shopping and cleaning. Louise never complained about all the hard work, that was all a part of what made it so much fun for her. Louise loved to play cards, especially canasta, and was not above cheating to win the game. Louise's hobbies included travelling, crafting (whatever craft was in vogue at the time), knitting and watching sports on TV, but by far the best times of her life were spent with her family. Louise was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Eva; her parents-in-law, Sebastian and Gertrude (nee: Young) Fink; her husband, Henry; one son, in infancy, Cyril; her sister, Fran; dear sisters-in-law, Lena Mastel, Anne Staudt, Loretta Kraft , Vi Kraft and most recently Anna Fink; brothers-in-law, Charlie Degelman, Ben Mastel, Frank Staudt, Frank Fink, Christ Fink and Frank Schneider. Louise leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her children, Winnie of Carnduff, SK, Wayne (Marilyn) of Balgonie, SK, Vel of Medicine Hat, AB, Vanda (Don) of Regina, SK and Vern ( Kathy) of Springside, SK as well as 13 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren. Louise also leaves to mourn her passing, her sister, Ann Schneider of Odessa, SK, her brothers, Alfred Kraft of Indian Head, SK and Nick Kraft of Regina, SK; her sister-in-law, Margaret Ulrich of Regina as well as host of dear nieces and nephews on both the Kraft and Fink sides of the family; her friends at the Bentley Retirement Community and St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church Community in Yorkton, SK. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Holy Child Roman Catholic Church in Regina, SK on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Basil Chomos officiating. The interment will follow in the Regina Memorial Gardens, Regina, SK. Friends so wishing may make Mass Offerings in Louise's memory or donations in her name to the Children's Wish Foundation as tokens of remembrance. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
