ABEL, LOUIS F., 85, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Norton Audubon Hospital. He worked as a shift supervisor and safety officer for LG&E for 40 years before retiring in 1987. He was also a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church and Southpark Country Club. Louis was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Lillian (Martin). Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn (Miller) Abel; son, Rev. Robert Abel; daughters, Carol Ann Aden (Howard) and Mary Lou Sorter (David); grandchildren, Jennifer and James Aden, Carrie McNeil (Kevin), Aimee Powell (Dan) and Joe Sorter; and great-grandchild, Alexis Grace McNeil. His funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 747 Harrison Avenue, with interment to follow in St. Michaels Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be made to the Senior Citizens Group at Our Mother of Sorrows, 747 Harrison Avenue.
