TRIBES HILL Lorraine D. Blazejewski Miller, 73, of Prospect Street, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2004 at noon at Montgomery Meadows after a long illness. Born in Amsterdam on July 11, 1931, the daughter of Ludwik and Walerya Dybas Blazejewski, she was a 1949 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. An accomplished artist, especially with fashion sketches, she was then awarded a scholarship to the Pratt Institute in Manhattan. Prior to her marriage, she worked in the jewelry department at the former Luries Department Store in Amsterdam. A wonderful home maker, in later years she assisted her son Dale as hostess for the Stone Ends Restaurant in Glenmont. Lorraine was an active member of her community, serving as a den mother for the Tribes Hill Cub Scouts; she was a charter member of the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary; a member of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veteran's Auxiliary. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, she was also a member of the Mohawk Valley Glee Club. A devout communicant of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, she served as a catechist for over 12 years there and was a member of the Rosary Society and choir as well as charter member and chairperson of the Country Carnival of the church. She was predeceased by her brothers, Steve Blaze and Chester Blaze as well as a sister-in-law, Doris DeNise whom she cared for many years. Her loving family includes her husband of 52 years, John P. Miller of Tribes Hill; her sons, John P. Miller Jr. of Amsterdam and Dale L. Miller of Albany; two grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Jennifer Miller and Sarah E. Miller and her fiance Brad Valchovic; her great-grandson, Christopher Michael Miller as well as nieces, nephews and cousins and her life long dear friend, Mary Ann Craig among many others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. The Rosary Society will gather for prayers at 6:30 p.m. Interment is in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery in the family plot. Those who wish to remember Lorraine may make a contribution to the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Community Hospice of Amsterdam both in care of the funeral home office. The family is most grateful to Hospice and Montgomery Meadows for the care shown to Lorraine.
