SCHINDLER - Longtime Long Island resident, Bob Schindler passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 his 70th birthday, after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Bob is survived by his wife Sandy, his sons, Robert and Christopher, two brothers, three sisters and his beloved granddaughters, Katie and Emily Rose. A member of the International Longshoreman's Association since 1962, Bob retired in 2005 to Cumming, GA and Naples, FL to be closer to his grandchildren and to work on his golf game. Aside from family, Bob's most fulfilling accomplishments came serving as the president of Huntington Tri-Village Little League from 1975-1985. In that time, he was responsible for starting one of the first Pee-Wee leagues for 5 and 6 year olds in the country and influencing and enriching the lives of thousands of young boys and girls in the community.
