Lois was born June 15, 1927, in Chisholm, Minn., daughter of Louis and Frances Bach, and was raised in Hibbing, Minn. After graduating from Hibbing High School in 1945, Lois attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where she graduated with a B.S. in education in 1953, later completing a master's degree at Kean College of New Jersey. She started her teaching career in Washington State and retired from Harmony School in Middletown after 27 years. She married Dale Everett Johnson of Grand Marais, Minn., on Jan. 2, 1952, at MacDill Air Force Base near Tampa, Fla. They raised four children and travelled extensively for many years. They enjoyed competitive bridge, gourmet dinner parties, hunting, golfing and boating together. Lois was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary's Church. She was an active member of American Association for University Women and Alpha Delta Kappa: International Honorary Organization for Women Educators. Lois had a passion for gourmet cooking, fashion, and gardening. In her retirement, she was involved in filming and production with SCAN TV. She enjoyed many cultural exploits: theatre and art in New York City and travelling with friends and family. Lois will be fondly remembered by her friends and family as a spirited woman who built an atmosphere of style and occasion, whipping up late-night dinners (a martini in hand) and conversation, always fashionable, organized and independent. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Frances Bach; sister, Barbara; husband, Dale, and daughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughters, Dale (Steve Dull) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Mary Jo (Arthur May) of Bergenfield, N.J.; son, Stephen (Beth Skrukrud) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and grandchildren, Ian and Adriane Dull, and Sara and Alex May. She leaves behind many very close friends.
